Kylie Jones

Accounts Manager

Kylie tries to hide it, but we all know she's an O'Donoghue and will remain forever at the Hotel California...

Kylie swanned off to University with big dreams of working in the tourism industry. Her degree was in Business Management with a major in Tourism and apart from spending her school holidays working in the family business (TMT), her first 'real job' was in events management. After a few years in this space, Kylie decided she wanted a social life again (because packing down an event at 3am is so not fun).

Kylie drifted back to TMT to lend a hand during a busy patch and basically never left. Kylie always hated bookkeeping and accounting at school, so that is exactly the role bestowed on her when she returned to TMT, however much to her surprise (and everyone elses) Kylie excelled in this space, and went on to gain further qualifications in Accounts Management.

Kylie is ridiculously organised, and manages the administration team within the business, which is similar to herding cats.

When Kylie's not counting our beans, or allocating tasks out to the team, she's keeping the Directors on the straight and narrow, because quite frankly they are scared of her.

At home, Kylie is kept super busy with her husband Graham, three beautiful children and multiple fur babies.

Qualifications / Competencies

  • Bachelor of Tourism Management
  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting
  • Diploma in Accounting
  • Certificate IV in Accounting

Susan Dickey

Training Coordinator

Susan was born in New York City, but left the big smoke for an even bigger smoke – Mexico City, where she spent her formative years.

Susan also spent time living in Sydney, Australia; San Salvador, El Salvador; and Madrid, Spain. Susan will often take her fellow team members by surprise when she announces something in Spanish. We probably don't want to know what she says.

Despite her accent, Susan's family has been in Australia since the transportation of convicts to Van Diemen's Land. She came out to Cairns to spend a year with her Aussie family. 25 years and two children later, Susan is still here and feels blessed to call Australia home.

Susan enjoys bush walking during Cairns’ cooler months and hopes to explore some of Australia’s iconic trails some day.

Susan also loves travelling and has enjoyed many trips abroad, however not so much since 2020... for obvious reasons.

Susan is highly organised and has been part of the TMT family for almost a decade. Our clients love dealing with her due to her efficiency and courteous manner. There's not much about what we do that Susan isn't across, and can provide advice on a large number of products on our scope.

Olga Antohi

Administrative Assistant

Olga doesn't sound very Australian, but there's a good reason for that...

Hailing from the Ukraine, Olga has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, a Diploma in Tourism, and is fluent in English, Russian, Ukrainian, and conversational in Romanian. Olga has led an exciting life on the high seas working for Royal Caribbean Cruise Line as HR Manager on 'Navigator of the Seas' and 'Mariner of the Seas', before moving on to be Crew Operator / Travel Manager for MSC Crewing Services.

By 2015 Olga had found her way to Australia, and in particular Cairns, and has worked in hospitality as Night Audit Manager / Front Desk at Peppers Beach Club and Spa, Front Desk at Park Regis City Quays, and Duty Manager then Reservations Manager at Shangri-La Marina Cairns.

Always looking to upskill, Olga recently gained a Certificate III in Information Technology, and is working on her Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.

Seeking a new team member for our mining contracts, Olga was put forward by one of our fabulous trainers (thanks Phoebs) and we haven't looked back. Olga now gets to spend her days dealing with all things training related and site access related for a mine in the Northern Territory. Slightly different to ships and hotels, but Olga assures us she loves it.

Gina Potter

Administrative Assistant

Gina must love planes... why? Because she works for TMT Cairns, spends her shifts in the Northern Territory, and lives in Brisbane.

Gina actually probably doesn't like planes THAT MUCH, however when the opportunity presented for her to join her husband working the same shifts in the NT, Gina jumped at the chance.

Gina has qualifications in Office Administration and Call Centre Fundamentals, and is currently seeking recognition of prior learning for a Certificate IV in Youth Work.

Gina's work history is varied with early days as a Dispatch Coordinator for a manufacturing company, a Corporate Customer Service Representative for Primus Telecommunications, Technical Support Officer with Teletech (providing support to Telstra Bigpond customers), and Customer Service Officer for ANZ Bank Resolutions Department. As we can probably gather, Gina likes providing support to customers...

Transferring from Melbourne to Cairns, Gina joined the Department of Human Services in 2012 before starting her own cleaning company that same year. The lure of danger must have been attractive, as Gina joined Hartley's Crocodile Adventures after that, and fortunately for Gina she was serving the food, not becoming the food. Gina must like animals, as she joined Cairns Tropical Zoo after that - surely good experience to set her up for a future career in mining...

After some time spent in retail at Dusk Australia, Gina moved into the youth worker space, and was a Residential Youth Worker working in residential, emergency, therapeutic and foster care for both Alternate Care and Safe Places for Children before joining the TMT family.

Gina is one of our team members working for a mining client and now gets to spend some quality time with her husband as they share the same flights to work, the same roster, and the same R&R week. Let's see how that pans out...

Peter McGuire

Administrative Assistant

Peter's background makes us suspicious... he went from a career as a butcher, to a career as a nurse... hmmm.

Growing up and attending Marist College in NSW, Peter got his first job as an apprentice butcher in Bondi Junction. Peter spent the next 20 or so years chopping up meat as his trade, before deciding he wanted to stitch it all back up again, so he gained his Diploma of Nursing, and became an enrolled nurse in 2019 working for Health Care Australia.

The TMT team met Peter in 2020 when he was working alongside our staff administering squillions of rather invastive nasopharyngeal type tests for the FIFO workforce flying to both Groote Eylandt and Cannington Mines (fun times for all). The airport testing project continued for over 18 months, luckily moving to rapid antigen testing during 2021, and in that time we realised Pete would be a good fit for the TMT team, however we don't do nursing, so we parked that thought.

Fast forward to 2023. Peter is busy doing drug and alcohol testing, we need an administrator, and Pete puts his hand up to give it a whirl. Peter is now undertaking a FIFO roster himself, and I'm sure he's pretty happy the COVID testing regime is no longer required - the jabber didn't much like the idea of becoming the jabbee...

Kavin Windsor

Trainer - TAE Qualifications, Skill Sets and Units

Meet Kavin. K. A. V. I. N.  Yes, it's Kevin with an A. Don't call him Kevin, he gets upset...

Kavin commenced his career in the Air Force as an Electronics Technician where he was required to maintain and troubleshoot a variety of communications and ICT equipment. He was in charge of a joint Australian/American maintenance section and was able to ensure training and assessment requirements were met and exceeded. Managing a Maintenance Control Section and liaising and coordinating equipment outages across a number of sites worldwide, Kav was able to ensure mission availability in excess of 98%.

The training and assessment part of being an Electronics Techician inspired Kav to officially move into a Training and Development role (still with the Air Force) where Kav implemented a module to provide introductory ICT hardware and software skills and knowledge to Air Force trainees, resulting in a decreased training burden and financial impost on other units.

A move into Communications Engineering Support saw Kav provide logistics, communications and engineering support to HF radar system engineers, advice to all levels of personnel with regards to information security, perform annual information security audits, and present detailed reports to management.

After enough years spent with planes, Kav swapped over to boats, and became Training Officer for the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard Association. Here Kav implemented an electronic record management system to ensure member qualification and competency reports were easily available to the squadron, saving hundreds of volunteer hours over the year. He implemented electronic submission of documentation, resulting in a 50% decrease in processing time for members' qualifications; and rationalised the training calendar to decrease time taken for a trainee to progress through required training, resulting in a 100% greater availability of qualified personnel available for operational status within a 12 month period.

Kav became Technical Instructor for Scientific Management Associates responsible for facilitating student learning within a blended learning environment, providing one-on-one and small group tutorials and remedial sessions using traditional and e-learning methodologies, assisting students with LLN issues as needed and managing student progression in accordance with Department of Defence policies.

TMT finally had a chance to engage Kav when he moved to Cairns in 2018 as a Trainer/Assessor for the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and Kav spent the next two years upgrading over 300 trainer/assessors to the TAE40116, and marking over 3000 assessments. Phew... we're sure Kav was marking assessments in his sleep.

Kav took a bit of a break after that (as you would) and joined Disaster Relief Australia as a volunteer, travelling Australia assisting with recovery efforts after natural disasters. Kav has worked tirelessly in this role, and continues to be mobilised for disaster relief in between his training gigs.

Kav’s qualifications and accreditations include:

  • Bachelor of Adult and Vocational Education
  • Advanced Diploma of Management (Communications Electronics Maintenance)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Certificate II in Transport and Distribution (Maritime Operations)
  • Flight Sergeant & Sergeant Promotion courses
  • RAAF Training Development course
  • Defence Materiel Organisation Business Acumen Program

Jodie Struzik

High Risk Work Trainer / Assessor - Townsville

Jodie’s career kicked off in the Australian Defence Force (Townsville) where she became a Cargo Specialist.

Her work in this area involved loading and unloading navy boats using various load shifting equipment (manitou, 13t articulated forklift, 30t Tadano, other forklift trucks). She was responsible for the load movement, was dogger on the various cranes and regularly had to work in confined spaces.

Jodie then moved into the construction industry where she was a Dogman and Rigger for Farrelly Construction Services operating at Millennium Coal Mine. Type of work performed was erection of structural steel, installation of conveyers, installation of piping, selection and inspection of rigging equipment, loading and unloading of trucks using forklifts and manitou, operation of a Franna and working safely at heights.

Jodie obviously liked this kind of experience, as she went on to work at another mine 200km south-east of Mt Isa for Bilfinger Berger Services / Downer Engineering and was the non-slew crane operator, dogman and rigger. Jodie worked the crane both above ground and underground at Cannington Mine and her duties involved hazard identification and implementation of hazard control measures, shutdown work, removal of crusher from underground, load movement and dual lifts using Franna’s, frequent use of lockout systems and the installation and removal of equipment from surface to underground and vice versa. Again, much of Jodie’s work in this environment included work in confined spaces.

Back in Townsville, Jodie gained further experience in dogging and rigging whilst working for Ross Haven Marine where she was involved in the repair of navy patrol boats and returning them back into service. This included the disassembly, repairs and reassembly of bulkheads, decks and floors, and the varnishing and spray-painting of furniture. Jodie was also tasked with the removal of motors and internal structures, directing the 60t mobile crane and use of various hand and power tools.

Over time Jodie became aware of the differences between well trained operators, and those who were ‘ticked and flicked’. Her passion in seeing a job executed with precision, whilst maintaining safety grew to a point where Jodie made a career change, and alongside her father, commenced School of Rigging almost 10 years ago.

As well as being a high risk work accredited trainer and assessor Jodie has been involved in the following during her time at School of Rigging – demolition rigging, dual crane lifting, erection and dismantling of tilt-up panels, shutters, swing stage, fabricated hung scaffold, rigging of gin poles, installation of mast climber, flying fox, safety nets and static lines, operation of knuckle boom lifts, steel fabrication using MIG, spray painting and repairs to cranes.

Jodie is obviously qualified in everything she trains and assesses, and has a mountain of experience behind her to fall back on when dealing with those curly questions.
