EMS refers to the management of an organisation's environmental programs in a comprehensive, systematic, planned and documented manner. It includes the organisational structure, planning and resources for developing, implementing and maintaining policy for environmental protection.
More formally, EMS is
"a system and database which integrates procedures and processes for training of personnel, monitoring, summarising, and reporting of specialised environmental performance information to internal and external stakeholders of an organisation.”
The most widely used standard on which an EMS is based is International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) 14001.
The goals of an EMS are to increase compliance and reduce waste. An EMS provides a systematic way of managing an organisation’s environmental affairs and is the aspect of the organisation’s overall management structure which addresses immediate and long-term impacts of its products, services and processes on the environment.
It provides order and consistency for organisations to address environmental concerns through the allocation of resources, assignment of responsibility and ongoing evaluation of practices, procedures and processes.
The EMS helps to develop, implement, manage, coordinate and monitor environmental policies.
We advise in the design and implementation of Environmental Management Systems, whether it be for accreditation in International Standards such as ISO 14001 or for non-certified systems which simply enable your business to manage its environmental responsibilities.
So whether you are looking for system development in just one area (such as Environmental) or whether you are planning on a full integrated system bringing in various system components, we can assist you to bring it all together. We sit down with you, and go through your business processes to gain a full understanding of what you do and how you operate.
We then design and implement a system which will work with your current processes, utilising your existing forms and work procedures where possible. And best of all, we keep it simple. What we don’t do is provide you with reams of paper, and dump a convoluted, inappropriate and unmanageable system in your lap and walk away.
Your system needs to live and breathe, and be simple to use, easy to maintain, and tick all the compliance boxes.
To compliment your system, we can also supply and support Mango Compliance Software. Mango was created from the desire of industry qualified safety, quality and environmental consultants to see their systems maintained by their clients.
Use Mango to look after the standard activities of an EMS such as managing, reviewing, correcting and improving documentation, identifying, assessing and controlling aspects and impacts using the risk management module, controlling all the emergency preparedness activities in the event management module, formalising the legal requirements in a central documents repository, highlighting the objectives and targets to all staff in the documents module and recording any environmental incidents easily in the accident/incident module.
With all of this data Mango have developed a unique report writer that will analyse your environmental performance in real time.

In addition to the above, we are also able to provide accredited training through our registered training organisation, Queensland Training Services Pty Ltd. Training available includes short courses such as asbestos removal, confined space entry, hazardous substances, working at heights, test and tag, White Card, HSR training, incident investigation, Functioning as a WHS Safety Advisor through to full qualifications such as Certificate IV and Diploma in Work Health and Safety, Management and Business, and Training and Assessment.
Your investment will depend on the size of your organisation, and what you already have in existence. It will also depend on how far you want us to go in the development and implementation, and how much you would like to do yourself. Therefore, you are in total control of what you spend. Either way, we will meet with you first, prior to quoting, discuss your requirements, and guide you through the process. A system from scratch will start at approximately $3,000 (plus GST). If you are seeking full third party accreditation, this will be a separate cost from our charges, however we can make you ‘certification ready’. For any additional consultancy or training services required, other than the development of your Environmental Management System, a quote will be provided on request.
