Who is this training for?
This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to supervise the removal process for friable and non-friable asbestos containing material (ACM). The unit includes planning for and supervising the removal process, including preparing the work area and the work site, using safe and compliant removal practices, maintaining safety procedures, and supervising the decontamination and removal processes.
Ensuring compliance with the asbestos removal control plan (ARCP) is central to the effective performance of the role. This includes ensuring and documenting that required air monitoring and other testing and certification processes are conducted by licensed asbestos assessors according to legislation.
Course Objectives
This course provides the participants with the skills to:
- Plan for asbestos removal
- Prepare site for removal
- Supervise testing, compliance and documentation in consultation with the licensed asbestos assessor and the asbestos removalist
- Oversee removal and decontamination processes
- Supervise and support team members
Course Pre-requisites
Participants must be over 18 years to supervise asbestos removal.
Evidence of completion of CPCCDE3014 Remove Non-Friable Asbestos must be obtained prior to completing the supervisor unit.
Please note this training will only cover those wishing to supervise the removal non-friable asbestos. It does not cover those wishing to supervise friable removal.
Legislative Requirements
A licensed asbestos removalist supervisor must not direct or allow a worker to carry out licensed asbestos removal work unless the supervisor is satisfied that the worker holds a certification in relation to the specified VET course for asbestos removal relevant to the class of licensed asbestos removal work to be carried out.

What Are Participant Requirements?
Each participant will require work clothing, safety footwear, gloves and eye protection. Other forms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and equipment required to simulate asbestos removal will be supplied by Total Management and Training.
The course is conducted as a combination of theory and practical components in a simulated work environment.
What will I receive at the conclusion of the course?
Upon successful completion of the course assessment, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment, and will also receive a plastic card which shows they have been deemed competent to perform work to supervise the removal of non-friable asbestos containing material.
How will participants be assessed?
Participants’ competencies will be assessed through completion of theory assessment and practical exercises.
Course Outcome
On successful completion of this course, participants will gain the necessary skills to safely supervise asbestos removal including preparing, containing and removing non-friable ACM, and includes knowledge of decontamination and disposal requirements.
Recognition of Prior Learning
A learner’s history of study, skills and experience can be taken into account but it must support the criteria included in the unit of competency. Documentary evidence and interview will be required.
Course Venue and Equipment
This course may be conducted in our training rooms in Cairns, or on-site at client premises. Where courses are conducted on-site then a suitable venue and white board are to be provided by the client company. The venue shall have sufficient tables and chairs for participants to be seated comfortably for the duration of training. Any catering costs shall be borne by the client company. Please contact us to discuss alternate arrangements if there is any difficulty in providing these facilities and equipment.
Additional Costs and Expenses
Where the training is conducted outside the immediate Cairns area then additional costs will be applicable. Any airfares, travel, accommodation, meals and materials freight incurred in the provision of this training will be on-charged. Mileage will be charged at 80¢ (plus GST) per kilometre and traveling time will be charged at our standard rates. Please contact us for a formal quotation for courses conducted outside of Cairns.
Where consideration needs to be applied due to cultural, language, literacy, numeracy or other special needs, extra time will be allowed to ensure participants receive sufficient supported training. This time will be charged at our standard rates.
