Who Should Gain a White Card?
Any person who conducts construction-type work in Queensland. Construction type work means work that contributes directly to the erection, construction, extension or structural alteration of a building or part of a building, civil construction or demolition work. This study provides new and existing building and construction industry participants with the introductory understanding and knowledge needed to commence or continue work in the building and construction industry.
From February 2019, training for the white card must be undertaken face to face in Queensland.
English Language
A minimum standard of English is necessary to successfully complete general construction induction training.
Proof of Identity
Proof of identity must be sighted with details recorded prior to course commencement. Details of the evidence sighted will be recorded and verified by the TMT Trainer on the morning of the course.
Proof of Identity Requirements
- 1 Category A document + 2 category B documents, OR
- 2 Category A documents + 1 Category B document
At least one Category A document must be photographic and show a full name and date of birth (DOB).
Course Outcome
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
- determine and apply basic risk management concepts in relation to construction type work
- read, interpret and apply all safety instructions as required
- identify and follow standard work procedures in the event of an emergency
- report hazards and potential workplace incidents to appropriate personnel
- determine their roles, rights and responsibilities under law
How will participants be assessed?
Participant’s competencies will be assessed through completion of theory and practical activities. Practical activities include a verbal discussion with a trainer/assessor, and a visual demonstration of putting on certain items of PPE. Please note TMT will supply the PPE for students to use for their demonstration.
Upon successful completion participants will be issued with a statement of attainment for the unit of competency CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, and a laminated White Card.
Course Venue and Equipment
Courses are generally conducted in our training rooms at Total Management and Training. Where courses are conducted on-site then a suitable venue, data projector and white board are to be provided by the client company. The venue shall have sufficient space for the participants to be seated comfortably for the duration of training. Any catering costs shall be borne by the client company. Please contact us to discuss alternate arrangements if there is any difficulty in providing these facilities and equipment.
A demonstration of fitting Personal Protective Equipment will be required by participants. TMT trainers will provide all PPE required for the course.
If company's wish to conduct the training at Total Management and Training, a training room hire fee of $150 (plus GST) will be payable. This fee includes use of data projector and screen, and unlimited tea and coffee during the day.
Courses Outside of Cairns
Where the training is conducted outside the immediate Cairns area, additional costs will be applicable. Any airfares, travel, accommodation, meals and materials freight incurred in the provision of this training will be on-charged. Mileage and traveling time will be charged at our standard rates.
