Course Introduction

This course has been designed for those who may be required to work at heights and use safety harnesses and fall arrest equipment.

This nationally accredited course offers a comprehensive introduction to safe working at height. The course includes a guide to legislation, regulations and the standards governing working at heights. Participants will be taken through height safety including the selection and use of fall prevention, fall restraint and fall arrest devices.

The practical component of the course covers choosing and correctly fitting a harness, and gives the participants a chance to wear and use a harness, as well as awareness of emergency response procedures.

The course is relevant to those who work at height and use safety harnesses and fall arrest equipment or those who are required to supervise others working at heights.

  • Monitoring of safe work practices
  • Emergency response and rescue requirements
  • Incident reporting

 

Is there Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) ?

Yes, your history of study, skills and experience can be taken into account but it must support the performance criteria set out in the unit of competency. Documentary evidence and interview will be required.

Assistance with reading, writing or mathematics

We can provide support in some areas. Where we cannot, we will provide direction to other agencies who may be able to assist.

What will the participant receive at the conclusion of the course?

On successful completion of both the theory and practical components of the course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights.

 

 

Course Venue and Equipment

Public courses are conducted at our training facility. Where courses are conducted on-site then a suitable venue (which can accommodate up to 10 participants and 1 trainer) and a white board are to be provided by the client company. The venue shall have sufficient space for the participants to be seated comfortably for the duration of the theoretical training. Any catering costs shall be borne by the client company. Client to provide appropriate equipment for the practical training component. Please contact us to discuss alternate arrangements if there is any difficulty in providing these facilities and equipment.

Additional Costs and Expenses

Where the training is conducted outside the immediate Cairns area then additional costs will be applicable. Any air fares, travel, accommodation, meals and materials freight incurred in the provision of this training will be on-charged. Mileage will be charged at 80¢ (plus GST) per kilometre and traveling time will be charged at our standard rates. Please contact us for a formal quotation for courses conducted outside of Cairns.

 

Enrolling in a Public Course

Review our training calendar for upcoming course dates. Enrolment forms may be downloaded from the website. Email or post the completed enrolment form back to Total Management and Training.

Please note you will receive a log in to our training portal with an option to undertake the theory component of this course prior to attendance on the day. Otherwise, time will be allowed during the course to enable assessment activities.

 

Dedicated Course

If you have a group of five or more who require training, a dedicated course can be scheduled and run either at your workplace, or at our training facility. Cost for a one day dedicated course up to a maximum of 10 participants is $1500.
