Please note this course is delivered on Groote Eylandt, and is only for Territorians at this stage.
This course will provide the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
This competency applies to all who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
If you or members of your immediate family or household are experiencing flu like symptoms (including but not limited to fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, body aches or fatigue) please do not attend this course, and seek medical assistance. A temperature check will be taken of each person prior to the commencement of the course. Should your temperature exceed the allowable variation, you will not be able to attend the course.
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Perform CPR procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
Participants will be assessed through completion of theory and practical exercises. Upon successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID001 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Course Venue and Equipment
Courses will be conducted in various venues around Groote Eylandt. Please ensure when attending the course you wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing (as you will be required to get down on the floor to perform practical tasks). Enclosed footwear will also be required.
Tea, coffee and water will be provided.
