Who Should Attend

This program provides the skills and knowledge required to apply work health and safety (WHS) regulations and codes of practices in the electrotechnology workplace. It is the pre-requisite unit to undertake our Test and Tag course, however is also used in industry as a base level safety course.

 

What will I learn?

This program covers applying safe working practices, following workplace procedures for hazard identification and risk control. It also includes electrotechnology worker responsibilities and application for health and safety, risk management and adherence to safety practices as part of electrotechnology work functions when preparing to enter a work area.


Objectives

At the completion of the program participants will have knowledge of:

  • area access permits
  • following relevant WHS/OHS safety regulations and codes of practice
  • hazard identification and safe work methods for controlling risks
  • preparation for electrical and non-electrical isolation
  • tools, equipment and chemicals required for electrotechnology work
  • PPE appropriate for work in the electrotechnology industry
  • procedures for dealing with accidents, fires and emergencies
  • safe work methods when working at heights
  • safe work methods with regards to manual handling
  • safe work methods for removing electric shock victims
  • WHS/OHS documentation and incident records
  • workplace instructions and procedures

  

Digital Literacy

Please note this is an online course, and you need to be able to navigate browsers, and click through assessment questions. There are two tasks to complete for the practical assessment, and although the tasks are not complex, you will need to video yourself doing them, and upload a copy of that video to the student portal. You can use your mobile phone on video mode to do this. If you get stuck, you may need to bribe a friend or relative to be your videographer.

Outcome

Upon successful completion of assessment questions and tasks you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace. This unit may then be used towards attainment of our Test and Tag competency.

Once the enrolment form (with payment details filled in) is received, you will be provided with access to your course.
