Who Should Attend?
All persons involved in electrical work who are required to maintain skill levels in low voltage rescue procedures (including switchboard rescue) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as part of their duties.
Students completing Low Voltage Rescue and CPR will be meeting the requirements under the Queensland Work Health and Safety Act for a person “competent in rescue and resuscitation”.
What Will They Learn?
This course covers the performance of rescue procedures from live low voltage (LV) apparatus, not including overhead lines and underground cables in the workplace. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in the context of transmission, distribution or rail work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
The CPR component covers the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. This training applies to all persons who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Upon completion of this course, the participant will understand the issues relating to rescuing a person from low voltage apparatus, including practical use of rescue apparatus; as well as being able to perform CPR on a casualty.
Outcome
At the completion of the course participants will be able to:
- respond to an emergency situation
- perform CPR procedures
- communicate and review details of the incident
- prepare to perform rescue procedures from a live low voltage panel
- carry out rescue from live low voltage panel
- complete the low voltage panel rescue procedure
Participants will be assessed through completion of theory and practical exercises. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for UETDRRF004 Perform rescue from a live LV panel and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Course Venue and Equipment
The course is conducted in our training rooms in Stratford.
